Morrison McConnell plans to double Van Heusen portfolio

Drapers Oct 2006

Menswear supplier Morrison McConnell is ramping up its fledgling retail business, with plans to more than double its Van Heusen concession portfolio within a year.

The company, based in Alfreton in Derbyshire, opened its first concession in House of Fraser nearly a year ago and now has a dozen spaces in House if Frasier, including London Victoria, Milton Keynes, Bristol and Northampton.

By Christmas, it expects to open Van Heusen concessions in HoF stores in Carlisle, Middlesbrough, Bournemouth and a further four unspecified locations. Another eight concessions, to open in spring 07, will take a portfolio to 27 out of Hof's 61 stores.

The concessions all carry Van Heusen's new smart-casual V. Shirts and accessories range, which launched for autumn 02. The V. range has also gone into 18 Moss Bros Stores on a wholesale basis, and Morrison McConnell is looking at developing V. into a complete head-to-toe collection, including a range of trousers and jackets.

The company is also introducing a concession model to launch its new Viyella menswear range under licence from the eponymous womenswear chain.

The collection will open in five Viyella womenswear stores in October. Launches in as-yet-unnamed department stores will follow in spring 07.
